The Power of Light

I think I figured out why this looks like its on a stair case, its the old guys. this is perspective where we should be looking down on everything below the horizon line, which appears to be placed right below right below the edge of the piece on the elevator. Yet we are looking up on these guys, we see most of their undersides, but really we'd see more of their backs. This in combination with the horizon lines looks like they're on a stair case.
